Miners Outlast Paints in 15 Innings

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – It took 15 innings, but the West Virginia Miners won 7-6 over Chillicothe Friday night at Epling Stadium to extend their win streak to four games.

With first place in the Prospect League East at stake, the Paints scored in the opening inning on a double by Andrew Czech. The Miners responded with four runs in the third inning, and maintained the lead until Chillicothe scored two runs in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game 6-6.

Both teams put runners in scoring position in the extra innings, but were unable to capitalize until Colby Johnson’s single in the 15th inning. The Greenbrier East alum was one of six Miners with multiple hits, with Maddux Houghton batting 3-7 and bringing in two runs.

The Miners and Paints will play two games this weekend in Chillicothe, Ohio.
