Merrill Reports From LIV Golf Tournament; Drought Worsens, Rain Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Low pressure promises a couple showers this weekend, but not everyone will see the rain and it won’t cure the drought.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill reports from the LIV Golf Tournament Pro AM today at The Greenbrier:

The 18th Hole at The Greenbrier:

The driving range at the Greenbrier prior to today’s Pro AM:

The drought worsened by one category to a severe drought along and west of Route 19 with moderate drought for the remainder of the region. Rainfall Friday into the weekend will amount to 0.25-0.50 inch in the spots that get it. The best chance for gardens to get watering include along Route 19, the Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas County.

Lightning delays are not expected for the LIV Golf Tournament, but 0.25-0.50 inch of rain are expected at the golf course this weekend, best chance early Friday afternoon and overnight Saturday.

A pleasant, low humidity trend will follow Sunday night into midweek.
