Mercer County man facing multiple charges, including LEO impersonation

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Mercer County man is in jail and facing charges including Driving Under the Influence and Impersonation of a Law Enforcement Officer.

According to a criminal complaint, a Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy was alerted to a single-car motor vehicle accident in Princeton, with the deputy noting a GMC Yukon that had reportedly gone off the road and through a wooden fence.

The driver appeared to be looking through his vehicle when first approached by the deputy. When the driver was asked to exit the vehicle, the deputy reported it appeared the driver was attempting to hide items. Following searches of both the person and the vehicle, the deputy located multiple handguns, and badges with alleged ICE, FBI, and Secret Police notation on them.

Jeffery Trail was arrested for suspected DUI, Simple Possession, and Impersonating a Police Officer. He is in Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
