Mercer County Humane Society hopes to crack down on illegal dog fighting

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – The Mercer County Humane Society is trying to crack down on illegal dog fighting in Mercer and McDowell Counties.

They are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can bring them information on illegal dog fighting in the area. Kim Bay, the president of the Mercer County Humane Society, says dog fighting has been an ongoing issue in the region, especially in McDowell County, and not enough has been done to stop it.

“I really can’t explain it. I don’t understand how people could not report something like that. But we were in McDowell County on Monday and anybody that we talked to about it, they just nonchalantly said oh yeah it goes on down here,” Bay said.

If you have any information on illegal dog fighting, contact the Humane Society or your local police.
