Mercer County Animal Shelter Finds Their Animals A “Home For The Holidays”

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – It is a good feeling to be able to go home for the holidays and to have a place to call home.

That is exactly what the Mercer County Animal Shelter is trying to provide for the Dogs and cats that they have.

The shelter is having a Christmas event, “Home For The Holidays”, where they reduce the adoptions rates. During this week the rates to adopt a dog is $35 and $15 to adopt a cat.

“We do see alot of increase pet adoptions, we also see a lot of increase in-takes . That’s why we hold our event that way most of the dogs here would be able to find a home for christmas. A Shelter environment is very stressful, there’s just so many noises and smells and dogs aren’t used to that. So getting into a home environment really calms them down.” Said Stacey Harman, Assistant Director of The Mercer County Animal Shelter
This Saturday will be the big day for animals to be adopted. The shelter will have Christmas activities going on and will give away a gift for every adoption.
The rabies clinic will also be there administering rabbi shots for $10.
