Memorial Day Weekend Travel To Reach New High

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY)- Memorial Day Weekend is known to be the most traveled holiday, but this year is expected to be the busiest despite high gas prices.

According to AAA, more than 200,000 West Virginians will travel over the long weekend, a 5 percent increase from 2017.

Most of the traveling will occur Friday and Saturday and coming back, expect to see delays in West Virginia especially on I  -77 where construction is occurring.

AAA also adds that driver should be aware of their surroundings and leaving ahead of schedule in preparation for heavy congestion.
