McDowell Co. Sheriff needs your help to give local children a warm sleeping bag for the holidays

MCDOWELL CO., WV (NEWS RELEASE) – McDowell County Sheriff Martin West is announcing that the “Warm for Winter” program is accepting donations for sleeping bags at the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the second year of the program, which replaced “Shop With A Cop.”

Sheriff West says, “We still want to help children of our county and to ensure that they are warm for the cold winter months.”

Last year, the Sheriff’s Office was able to distribute over two hundred sleeping bags and would like to increase that total for this year.

Sheriff West says anyone wishing to donate or purchase a sleeping bag for the program can do so by dropping off at the sheriffs office or by mailing to:

“Warm For The Winter Program”

350 Virginia Ave.

Suite 101,

Welch, WV 24801

Sheriff West and his deputies will distribute the sleeping bags to the needy of McDowell County at local schools, communities, and other impoverished areas. If you have any questions, call Sheriff West at 304-436-8598
