Huntington, WV (WOAY, video courtesy WSAZ) – After a tough 2016 season, it only took 12 seconds for Marshall to start 2017 on the right note.
Keion Davis returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, returned another kickoff 97 yards for a score in the second quarter, and Chris Jackson returned a third-quarter interception 72 yards for six as the Thundering Herd beat Miami (Ohio) 31-26 to take its fifth straight season opener – three of those coming against the RedHawks.
Marshall quarterback Chase Litton went 20-for-30 with one touchdown and one interception. Woodrow Wilson alum Chase Hancock recorded 10 tackles, including one sack.
The Thundering Herd travel to North Carolina State next Saturday.
