RIPLEY, WV (WCHS/WVAH) — Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs says a man is in jail after leading multiple agencies on a high-speed pursuit on Thursday.
Deputies say Dennis Weakland was wanted on aggravated robbery charges and was driving a stolen car from Ohio.
The pursuit involved officers from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Ravenswood Police Department, Ripley Police Department, Division of Natural Resources, Mason Police Department and Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Ripley police eventually deployed spike strips and the pursuit ended near Ripley.
Boggs said officers had to struggle with Weakland and he was tased numerous times. Boggs also said speeds during the pursuit exceeded more than 100 mph.
Weakland is facing new charges of felony fleeing, possession of a stolen car and bringing stolen property into the state.
