MACARTHUR, WV (WOAY) – A felon has been found in possession of a gun after a parking lot fight led to a vehicle search.
On 06/09/2020, Deputy J. T. Howard responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at 1881 Robert C. Byrd Drive, MacArthur, Raleigh County, WV. An employee at the location observed four people fighting in a vehicle in the parking lot.
When Deputy Howard arrived on the scene, he discovered the vehicle was occupied by Kevin Lloyd. He was acting nervous at the time which prompted Deputy Howard to request consent to search the vehicle. Lloyd allowed Deputy Howard and Sergeant R. R. White to search the vehicle.
While searching, a loaded single-shot pistol grip shotgun was located concealed in the vehicle within Lloyd’s immediate control. It was later found that Lloyd had multiple felony and family violence convictions in the State of West Virginia which makes him a prohibited possessor of any firearm.
Kevin Lloyd was arrested for being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm due to a conviction for a felony crime of violence as well as being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Concealed Firearm. Both are felony offenses carrying up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
He was taken before Magistrate Tomi Peck for arraignment. He was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond to await a preliminary hearing before an assigned Magistrate.
