FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley awarded a man the Citizen’s Proclamation Award tonight at the Fayetteville town meeting.
Calvin Endicott, intervened during an altercation to help Deputy Levi Garretson who was struggling to keep a man detained during a traffic stop. The man arrested was under the influence and had a loaded gun inside the vehicle.
“It felt really good, because a lot of the time your back up is a good bit away. A lot of the time you do your job by yourself so it felt good knowing that someone else had your back and was willing to give a helping hand,” said Deputy Levi Garretson.
Endicott says he doesn’t know what was going through his mind at the time, other than the fact that he saw an opportunity and took it.
