PINEY VIEW, WV (WOAY) – Emergency crews responded to a person who jumped off a cliff in Raleigh County.
According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, a man jumped off a cliff on Stonewall Road in the Piney View area of Raleigh County around 2:30 pm. The man fell approximately 50 feet and was airlifted to a hospital due to injuries.
Deputies tell WOAY that this was not a police chase, nor was the man a suspect, as other media outlets reported.
There is no word on the extent of the injuries or what caused the man to jump.
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. Jan-Care and several nearby fire departments responded to the scene.
