Man Accused of Setting His Fiancé on Fire Pleads Guilty

BECKLEY– A man accused of setting his fiancé on fire in September of last year has plead guilty in court.

Dwayne Michael Lane plead guilty to four felony charges in Raleigh County Court on Tuesday morning after allegedly pouring gasoline on Belinda Cox and setting her on fire. It was also revealed in court that Cox’s daughter and cousin who were twelve and ten years old at the time were present during the incident. Prosecutors said the daughter called 911 while attempting to extinguish the flames.

Lane was charged with: first degree murder, two counts of child neglect and domestic battery.

Lane will get a minimum of life in prison with the possibility of parole when he is sentenced on August 13.
