Low flying plane rattles Lewisburg Wednesday night

GREENBRIER CO., WV (WOAY) – An apparent low-flying jet airplane last night shook some folks up in Lewisburg.

“Nothing like laying in bed with the kids and thinking we are being attacked by ISIS or North Korea,” one resident texted.  “We all jumped up.  Cat was bawling!!!! Windows were rattling.  Dogs were barking.  I was PANICKING!”

Many think it was one of the government planes here for Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to the Greenbrier for the annual state Chamber of Commerce meeting on Wednesday.  We haven’t been able to confirm that yet.

We called the Greenbrier Valley Airport this morning to try and find out more.  No one has called back yet.

Folks who live near the airport took to social media almost immediately.  “MP texted and asked if we were ok. Lol.  I thought it was going to crash in the house.  I was horrified….and I’m the adult,” one person posted.

Others wrote, “It sounded huge coming across the house.  I thought a plane was crashing.”  “When it took off I thought my windows were gonna shatter, another wrote.

If we find out more about what kind of plane it was and why it was flying so low, we’ll update the story.
