MONROE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Peterstown Elementary School was placed on lockdown earlier today after a report came in of someone in the woods had a weapon.
Monroe County Schools released the following information:
“Today around 11:00 a.m. a teacher saw and reported someone in the woods behind Peterstown Elementary School with a weapon. The schools immediately went on lockdown and notified 911. The PRO Officer along with State Police reported promptly and secured the scene. The suspect was on school property with a bow and arrows, going hunting on joining property. Although he was trespassing with a dangerous weapon, he was not threatening the school or students in any way. We appreciate the quick response from law enforcement officers and 911’s assistance during the situation. All students and employees are safe.
