FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY)— One local organization was instrumental in making Christmas a special time by helping families this year.
More than 200 families packed Midland Trail Highschool earlier today to pick out Christmas presents for their children.
One unique aspect of the program is that children and parents are given the opportunity to pick out presents for each other. Once they have picked the special gift, it is wrapped before they leave.
“We’ve been very fortunate. We had Southern Baptist come in from North Carolina and they brought us 600 backpacks and 600 coats, so it was a major effort for our project,” said Rick Lewis, Chair of New Haven Project.
The project will continue to help families until Christmas Day. Any donations can be sent to the New Haven Christmas Project.
