Local First Responders Honored for Life Saving Care

BECKLEY– EMTs and Paramedics were praised for their work saving heart attack patients on Wednesday.

Jan Care Ambulance Medical Services’ work to save the lives of people suffering the most serious type of heart attack was recognized with a professional achievement award. The American Heart Association recognized three employees: Bruce Price, Gabrielle White and Rachel Auther. A couple of weeks ago they were dispatched to a call in Raleigh County of CPR in progress. Once they arrived on scene they took over the patient care and continued CPR. The patient survived thanks to proper training.

EMTs and paramedics play a vital part in the system of care for those who have heart attacks. We spoke with one of the EMTS who said it’s rewarding to know that you saved someone life.

“It makes me feel really good,” Gabrielle White said. “The position that I’m in as an EMT, to be able to help people that can’t help themselves, it feels amazing to help bring back somebody that was gone pretty much.”

White , just received her EMT certification.
