Local church provides bagged meals to people in need for monthly lunch service

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Once a month the United Methodist Church holds a community lunch, but with the pandemic going on they’ve decided to switch up how they do things.

Instead of cancelling the lunch, they bag meals and hand them out to churchgoers in a drive-thru fashion. Pastor Rick Crawford says the idea is meant to keep people safe while still showing support to the church’s regular visitors.

“Well, we want to stay safe. We want, obviously, I want my church and the people in my church to be safe. But I also want the people who come by to visit us, I want them to be safe as well. Doing this we’re able to still feed them, keep them fed, but keep them safe as well,” Crawford said.

The church is also looking for donations for their monthly food pantry, held on the third Thursday of each month.
