Local Bakery is Raking in the Dough

FAYETTEVILLE– Sweet T’s Bakery is a new local business making waves in Fayetteville, and owner Tandy Dempsey is proving you can turn lemons into some very sweet lemonade.

“We opened about two and a half months again, She said. “I was a home health nurse and got into a car accident and had some ongoing issues from that. So I was like well what can I do now because I can’t do the nursing job, so here we are!”

But keeping these delicious goodies on the shelves has proven to be no easy feat. Dempsey and her crew work hard to keep their patrons happy.

“We start early in the morning at around 5 and we bake all day long usually until about midnight to get ready for the next day. We are really super busy and we are trying to get everything in order for tourist season to start. The locals here have been great to us, they have supported us, they come in everyday, the call in orders, we deliver locally.”

And their biggest sellers keep them especially busy.

“Our pepperoni rolls which we make about 3 or 4 times a day and our cinnamon rolls which we make about 5 or 6 times a day. So we go through about 150 pepperoni rolls and about 200 cinnamon rolls a day. We went from like 10 pounds of powered sugar, now we’re up to 50, 100, 150 a day.”

If sweets aren’t your thing, well you can still find something worth coming back for.

“We have a lunch special on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We have lasagna on Wednesdays and meatloaf on Thursdays. Then we have sandwiches. We have tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad; we have have a smokehouse sandwich, hot ham and cheese and everything is made on our homemade bread.”

And if you really can’t get enough, Sweet T’s will cater your next event.

“Keep us in mind for your weddings, baby showers, birthdays. We have a small room in the back that we could house about 20 people for a small little banquet and we can do in house catering. So keep us in mind and come in and see us. I think you’ll find something in here you’ll like.”

So come check out sweet t’s bakery on court street in Fayetteville, because this sugar lover’s dream is all doable on a tank of gas.
