LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – After searching for nine years, the Lewisburg Fire Department has found the perfect location to build a new fire station.
Council members voted unanimously to accept a Real Estate purchase agreement with Barnette Development. The property is located behind the Gateway Commons Shopping complex.
“City council approved a piece of property. It is going to be the property across from the theater. It was announced today, so we’re still trying to find funding for the building, they have been setting money aside since 2011 to make the purchase. We have been looking for the property for nine years, so we’re excited to get the ball rolling for the new station,” said
According to Thomas, due to the funding process, he expects the project to take 2 to 3 years.
