UPDATE: New Details Emerge on Lester Highway Accident

UPDATE: The accident on Lester Highway did not involve a semi-truck or a tree, contrary to previous reports.

The truck pulling a trailer came around a turn when an icy patch and strong winds caused the trailer to fishtail. The trailer hit one utility pole, shattering it. The weight of the pole also pulled down a second utility pole.

Two people were in the vehicle when the accident happened. The trailer overturned, but the truck stayed upright. The passengers were unharmed.

The accident caused a back up along the highway two miles away from the scene. Crews originally estimated that it would take seven hours to clear the scene. Once the cables were cleared, traffic was moving again.
