Late Weekend Storm Will Trigger Icy Mess

Following a gorgeous end to the week and start to the weekend, a dose of snow and ice will round out the weekend.

Expect Winter Weather Advisories to be posted for the entire region for Sunday morning, with the alert expiring early Monday in the Greenbrier Valley.

Sunday: The Greenbrier Valley will see a quick burst of snow early Sunday with less than 1″ accumulation, then freezing rain will add up to 0.10″ after daybreak Sunday to early Monday. This will cause slippery spots in most spots, except main state routes and interstates. Dense fog will develop after sunset on Sunday to early Monday in the Greenbrier Valley. Ice will change to rain for the remainder of the region. Expect slippery sidewalks and parking lots in the morning, then melting ice in the afternoon.

Monday: Fog and drizzle is expected until midday in the Greenbrier Valley, with a warm wind and much milder temperatures along Route 19 and I-77. The sun will emerge during the midday and rain returns in the evening.

Another front will trigger rain Wednesday followed by colder weather late in the week. Snow showers return over the weekend.
