Cabin Creek, WV (WOAY)- The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were found in the Cabin Creek area late on Friday evening.
Deputies say around 10:45 p.m., two men flagged them down near Hill Street and Canady Lane, reporting what they believed to be human remains along a dirt access road.
Deputies followed the men to the site and confirmed the remains were human and in an advanced state of decomposition.
Investigators and crime scene personnel spent several hours processing the scene before securing the area overnight due to limited visibility.
Deputies remained on scene until daylight to continue the investigation.
The remains have not yet been identified and will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination and identification.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
