FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- The Historic Fayette Theater announces the first “Jazz & Blues In the Ville” to take place on Saturday, August 18th on So. Court St. and inside the theater itself.
The festivities begin at 11am with a street closure that includes food and craft vendors and musical entertainment on the street until 5pm. This is free to the public and features the Morgantown based Dixieland style “High Street Band” performing at 1pm and again at 4pm.
The highlight of the day is the indoor ticketed concert beginning at 6pm. Headlining the evening will be Sol Roots and band from Washington, D.C. bringing a mix of New Orleans funk, raw blues and southern soul. The Sol Roots band has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in roots music (Shemekia Copeland, Robert Randolph and many more. Also performing that evening will be Beckley based Blues/R&B group, Lady D and MI$$ION and W.Va. native Colin Wood, who resides in Columbus, OH will be fronting the Colin Wood Project jazz group.
