Jamboree Traffic Continues

The 2017 National Boy Scout Jamboree is just one day away from ending, 40,000 people will be departing from the Summit Bechtel Reserve and your everyday root could possibly be affected. “It will be one lane at Pea Ridge coming off of Pea Ridge going south bound and it will be one lane going up Sun Mine Hill” said, Mike Harper, Route 19 Supervisor.

The one lane closures will be taking affect early Friday morning at 4 a.m. and the West Virginia Division of Highways is hoping the lane will re-open by 4 p.m. on Friday. Harper told us, “If you are coming out of Green Town it will be right turn only coming onto 19, nobody will be allowed to cross 19 as long as the busses are moving around in the area.” If you will be traveling on Route 19 on Friday the WVDOH says to make sure to use caution and pay attention while driving. Harper added, “As long as people are just going to Beckley from Oak Hill if they stay in the left lane, we are hoping not to have any backups.”

The WVDOH does not expect there to be any further traffic on Route 19 over the weekend.
