Jake Karalexis is a weekday reporter for WOAY. He joined the team in June 2020, soon after graduating from the University of Michigan with a BA in Communication and Media.
While he was at Michigan, he wrote for the sports section of The Michigan Daily student newspaper. He was also a staff writer, copy editor, and managing editor for the Michiganensian Yearbook, Michigan’s second-largest student publication. He spent three years working with WOLV TV in the sports division, and two years as a producer and on-air talent for WCBN student sports radio. In addition, he served on the executive board for the Ann Arbor chapter of “The Society of Professional Journalists.”
Prior to starting at WOAY, Jake interned for WSB in his hometown of Atlanta, GA, as well as with WTKA sports radio in Ann Arbor, MI. He has had a passion for Atlanta and Michigan sports since he was eight years old, and has always dreamed of being a professional journalist. In his free time, you can catch Jake working out, following sports, and bumping Atlanta trap.
He is excited to start his career in storytelling, and cannot wait to get to work in Southern West Virginia. You can follow Jake on Twitter and Instagram @jake_karalexis and like his page on Facebook. If you have a story that you would like him to tell, send him an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
