BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Recently Five dogs were stolen from their owner in Lewisburg. There are a lot of animal lovers out there, and no one wants to lose their animal or have their animal stolen. For some pet owners, their animals are their family, and they love, care for and protect them to the best of their ability. But some things can be out our hands when it comes to other peoples action. There are a few ways to protect our animals like keeping them on a leash or fenced in while they’re outside and getting a GPS collar.

“One of the best things that you can do is microchip your pet. ┬áIt’s very easy, very it’s not very intrusive to the animal, not painful but the microchip allows if the pet is taken into a vet or a shelter they’re able to scan very easily get the identification number and then check the database and know exactly who it belongs to” Said Lt.
