White Sulphur Springs, WV (WOAY) – With football season right around the corner, NFL teams are beginning to meet for training camps, and Southern West Virginia will be hosting one franchise for a fourth straight year.
The Houston Texans arrived at the Greenbrier Tuesday afternoon, as they prepare to hold training camp outside of the Houston area for the first time.
The team is coming off two straight playoff appearances, having made four since 2011. Also in that time, J.J. Watt was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year three times; he was one of the first to be welcomed to the resort by the community, which included a marching band.
General Manager Rick Smith says already the Greenbrier has made a good impression, and had plenty of praise for not just the resort but the White Sulphur Springs community.
Practices begin Wednesday, with 17 total sessions to take place in White Sulphur Springs.
