House fire kills 2 in Mercer County

DUNNS, WV (WOAY) — A house fire killed two people late Sunday night in the Dunns area, according to officials.

No names are currently being released.

Scott Rodes, assistant state fire marshal, was still on the scene investigating Monday afternoon.

He told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, “Upon arrival members of the fire department were notified of two occupants in the dwelling at 405 Acres Lane who were missing. An officer with Ghent Volunteer Fire Department contacted the West Virginia Arson Hotline and the investigation division of the state fire marshals office was dispatched to the scene. During fire suppression operations members of the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department located the two individuals inside the dwelling. The occupants were removed from the dwelling and transported to the office of the chief medical examiner in Charleston. At this time the case of the fire remains under investigation.”
