WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): If you’re looking for a couple of warm days, today and tomorrow will be perfect for you. Temperatures will hit the mid-60s today and will breach 75 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. However, this is not a sign of things to come. Meteorologist Christian Boteler presents his latest forecast:
THE WARMTH: Tomorrow, we will be pushing high temperature records in many areas. The high is 76 degrees, which is only a few degrees off the record of 79 degrees for March 19th in Beckley. This warmth is coming from the south, as a crest of high pressure and warmer air is passing over. This pattern won’t last for long though, as a couple of Pacific fronts will bring cooler temperatures and damp conditions.
THE RAINY DAYS AHEAD: Thursday will be the first of the Pacific fronts coming through the area. The rain will start during the morning commute, transitioning into snow as cold air behind the rain sweeps through before the backend of the front passes. Temperatures will drop into the mid-20s overnight into Friday. The snow won’t be much, maybe a half of an inch to an inch and a half in higher elevations with a dusting in the lowlands at this time.
Friday gives us a bit of a break before Saturday brings another chance of rain into the picture. The system that is passing on Saturday is unorganized and may pass us just to the north, but keep the rain coat handy. Sunday evening into Monday will be the third chance of rain in the next week, starting Sunday night and lasting until midday in the area. Thankfully, severe weather is not expected with these showers.
THE ROLLERCOAST RIDE CONTINUES: Temperatures and weather conditions have been up and down all month long, and that trend will continue through the rest of the month. Keep your entire wardrobe handy, as cold and warm days will continue along with rain and snow over the rest of the month. The month will end on a colder note and will make April’s start colder as well, so keep your layers handy.
