Hot, Dry Pattern Gives Way to Midweek Cold Front

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The ongoing drought is bringing hot, dry weather with temperatures warmer than otherwise would be expected.

HEATWAVE: We will be in the 90s on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Heat indices will reach 92-95 degrees. Moderate drought will expand up the rest of Route 19 by Tuesday evening.

MIDWEEK FRONT: A cold front will push through on Wednesday bringing 0.50″ of rainfall, which will NOT be a drought buster. In the front’s wake, temperatures will drop to the 70s Thursday and Friday.

Looking Ahead to the end of July: By July 24-26, temperatures will return back to the upper 80s. While the amount of real estate in a moderate drought will lessen across our region at the end of next week, it will likely increase in coverage again after July 24. We need a tropical storm or hurricane to merge with a front to completely wipe away drought.
