Historic Black Knight holds community rummage sale

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Historic Black Knight held a rummage sale this weekend.

The city has owned the Black Knight golf course for a few years now and has turned it into a municipal park. One of their main projects for the property is to renovate many of the historic rooms, and to do that they need to get rid of some of the old items left there.

According to the city’s parks and recreation director Leslie Baker, they thought it would be best to offer these historic items to the community.

“There were just so many old dishes, and plates, and curtains, and paintings, and all different kinds of things. So we just thought it was a good way to get rid of a lot of that stuff; too good to throw away. Everybody’s trash is somebody’s treasure, so that’s what we were going for. And the community’s really turned out, and we’re pleased,” Baker said

Dozens of people left the rummage sale with things like vintage glassware, as well as paintings and curtains.
