“We are a true railroad town,” said Hinton Mayor Jack Scott. “We were brought here by the C&O Railroad to help supply workers and maintenance along the railways.”
Come celebrate the 150-year anniversary of the beautiful historic town of Hinton and its heritage of being a railroad community.
There will be more than 100 vendors, two stages with 24 bands. It’s music, food and fun Oct. 13 and 14 with a wonderful backdrop — the leaves have started to change into a beautiful kaleidoscope of fall colors. The mayor says it’s really important to the community to hold this event – there are a lot of small businesses and churches that benefit.
“They sell food and different items to help raise money. We have a lot of small businesses that do as well,” said Scott. “But for me it’s the exposure… getting people here, letting them see the charm of our small town.”
Hinton is the third largest historic district in the Mountain State and the mayor says one of the best kept secrets. He loves the long-standing tradition of Railroad Days.
“Just getting to see people; it’s almost become a family reunion,” said Scott. “Get to see a lot of your old friends and folks that live here that even don’t participate in it look forward to it each year.”
