Police found George Ruff, 29, of Hinton, sitting on a rock, covered in soot, beside railroad tracks where an additional fire was taking place on CSX property.

Officers asked Ruff what he was doing and why he set the fire and he said “I’m opening the gates to heaven”

Railroad ties underneath the fires were also charred and damaged.
