High Speed Chase In Beckley Causes A 3 Car Crash Involving A Beckley Officer

BECKLEY (WOAY) – A high speed chase led to a three car crash involving a Beckley Police Officer.

Sargent Bailey with Beckley Police tell WOAY that shortly after midnight an officer initiated a traffic stop Neville Street and Robert C Byrd Drive. The officer stopped th vehicle and when he approached it, the driver took off at a high rate of speed.

Another Beckley Police Officer was called and caught up with the vehicle near 3rd Avenue when the officer and another car crashed.

The Beckley Police Office suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was released.

The other occupiants were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and were released. No deaths occurred due to the crash.

Driver of vehicle taking into custody and is in Southern Regional Jail pending arraignment.

A passenger inside the vehicle that caused the high speed chase fled on foot and was caught.

After the accident Beckley Police notified West Virginia State Police and Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and theybare investigeting the crash.
