High school football teams hold scrimmages around area

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) – With one more week left until the return of high school football, most teams in the southern part of the state got together for various preseason scrimmages.

Teams in Mercer and Monroe counties could not scrimmage this week due to being in the orange zone last Saturday, but Oak Hill and Nicholas County were among the teams that met to get a taste of simulated competition.

Both head coaches, Gene Morris and David Moneypenny, discuss the value of having a chance to practice against other teams on the eve of the 2020 season. The Grizzlies host Shady Spring next Friday, while the Red Devils will travel to Westside.
