High school baseball league at Epling Stadium gives players a chance to shine

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – In a stacked day of baseball, Epling Stadium hosted five games between area high schools. The contests are part of the ongoing Upper Deck League, which concludes August 9th.

In the second game of the day, the Princeton Tigers faced off against the Greenbrier West Cavaliers. Pitching reigned supreme early on. That is until the fourth inning, when the Tigers knocked in four runs to take an early 6-2 lead.

Ultimately, the Tigers would win 9-3, behind a stellar performance by Cornelius Thomas, both at the plate and on the mound.

Epling will host its next slate of games on Thursday, July 30. Shady Spring takes on Princeton at 3pm. Liberty faces Summersville at 5:30pm. To close out the night, Greenbrier East meets Independence at 8:30pm.
