Hidden Valley Golf hosts demolition derby

GLEN DANIEL, WV (WOAY) – The Hidden Valley Golf Course held a demolition derby.

Hundreds of people showed up to watch the vehicles face off at the large outdoor recreation facility. Demolition derbies are a rare sight in West Virginia.

Owner of the golf course Rhonda Calloway says that setting up the derby wasn’t much trouble because their field was already maintained well enough for it.

“We actually already have an area where we would park all of our equipment. It’s already good and flat. So we were like, we can square this up and dome it up. The only thing we had to do was order lighting systems in case it runs a little late,” Calloway said.

More outdoor vehicle events like motocross races and mud bogs are planned at Hidden Valley later this summer.
