HUNTINGTON – A Netflix original documentary with a focus on Huntington and the nation’s opioid epidemic has been nominated for a 2018 Academy Award.
Heroin(e) was nominated in the Documentary Short category.
West Virginia native and Peabody award-winning filmmaker Elaine McMillion Sheldon focuses on three women who are working to change the town’s narrative and break the cycle of opioid abuse in Huntington.
The documentary features Huntington Fire Chief Jan Rader, Necia Freeman, who runs a brown bag ministry and drug court Judge Patricia Keller.
