Heat Spell Intensifies This Week, Storms Follow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Hot, dry weather will be the main staple going forward through the remainder of the week.

Chad has more details on the forecast for the week from our Facebook Live before the 5 p.m. newscast:

Expect sunshine each day with heat indices around 93 degrees. A cold front could spark a gusty storm Saturday evening, but then showers and storms are likely on Sunday afternoon. There is a risk for gusty winds and very heavy rain in the storms. Monday will be cooler with a risk for a few more showers.

A tropical depression will form later today in the Bay of Campeche and bring rain to Texas this week. Prior to landfall in southern Texas or adjacent Mexico, it could become Tropical Storm Alberto. Later this week, a low pressure in the Atlantic will bring rain to northern Florida. It could become a tropical depression, but its moisture will stay east of our area.
