Gross Income Level Increased For SNAP Benefits

CHARLESTON,WV (WOAY) – The gross income level for most WV residents to apply for snap benefits has increased.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services the increase became effective on Saturday, June 16th, 2018. The gross income limit for most families applying for the SNAP program will be increased from 130% of the federal poverty level to 200%.

DHHR adds, the reason for the increase is to allow more working and married families to maintain benefits without risk of benefit loss due to moderate increases in their household income.

For example a family of three earning less than $41,560 may now qualify for snap benefits.
