Grier, Sills on Preseason All-America Team

WOAY – West Virginia quarterback Will Grier and wide receiver David Sills were both named Tuesday to the Associated Press Preseason All-America First Team.

Grier, a redshirt senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, was named to multiple watch lists this summer for individual awards, after throwing for 3,490 yards and 34 touchdowns last season with the Mountaineers. He was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in 2017, and earned the conference’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year honor.

Sills, a senior from Wilmington, Delaware, returns to Morgantown after catching 18 touchdowns in 2017; he was tied with Memphis’ Anthony Miller for most touchdown catches in FBS football. Sills was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s best receiver, in his first year back with the Mountaineers after playing the 2016 season at El Camino College. As a freshman at WVU in 2015, he caught the winning touchdown pass in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl win over Arizona State.

West Virginia opens the 2018 season September 1 against Tennessee in Charlotte. The Mountaineers are 5-2 in season openers under Dana Holgorsen.
