Greenbrier Sheriff’s Dept. Investigating Neola Shooting

NEOLA– On Thursday July 20, 2017, at approximately 11:18 am, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, the West Virginia State Police and the White Sulphur Springs Police Department responded to a report of a shooting that occurred on 10 th Avenue in Neola.

Upon arrival officers would learn that a domestic situation had occurred at the residence of Marvel and Janice Lamp. Mrs. Lamp, age 71, was shot with a handgun by Mr. Lamp and was subsequently flown to Charleston Area Medical Center due to the injuries she sustained.

Marvel Lamp also discharged his weapon at a neighbors residence on the west side of State Route 92 subsequent to shooting his wife.
A search warrant was obtained for the crime scene from a Greenbrier County Magistrate and members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Team processed the scene.

Marvel Junior Lamp, age 85, was arrested on a charge of malicious wounding and arraigned before a magistrate. He was subsequently incarcerated in the Southern Regional Jail in lieu of
$200,000.00 bond.

Corporal W. K. Nester of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating officer.
