Greenbrier County Woman Arrested After Police Found Her Passed Out And Her Child In A Parking Lot

FAIRLEA, WV (WOAY) – One woman is in jail after she let her small child play in the parking lot of Rite Aid, while she was passed out in the car.

According to a criminal complaint, Police were dispatched to the Rite Aid in Fairlea after a caller advised there was a small boy playing around a car in the parking lot, while two adults were passed out in the car.  The caller advised they had been there for 45 minutes or longer.

When Police arrived, they found a female passed out in the passenger seat, a male passed out in the driver’s seat, and a small child sitting in the rear passenger side. The male woke up but the female would not wake up from noise or from being shaken.  Police had to do a sternum rub several times before she woke up.

The female was identified as Abbygale Hunt and the male was identified as Nathan Sparks.  The woman admitted to using heroin but couldn’t remember the rest of the day.  The child said he tried to wake both of them up but couldn’t.  The child stated he needed to pee so he got out of the car and peed.

Sparks was charged with DUI with the child in the car and is currently out on bond.   Hunt was child with child neglect and is in jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
