Greenbrier County Residents Be On Alert Of A New Scam

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department has received a complaint from a citizen in Greenbrier County, who received a call from an individual claiming to be a Deputy with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.

During this phone call, the individual claimed that the citizen had missed jury duty at the Greenbrier County courthouse and therefore owed a $2000.00 dollar fine and if not paid, the citizen would be arrested.

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office will never contact you by phone, or by any other means and ask for money in order to keep you from being arrested for any reason.

If you receive a phone call similar to the one mentioned above, simply hang up on the caller and do not provide them with any money and/or personal information. Please, don’t be a victim to this type of scam. Just say no to scammers!
