GPS Systems Could Be Coming To Fayette County Vehicles

The Fayette County Commission is considering purchasing GPS systems for county-owned vehicles.

Although the county hasn’t decided how many vehicles across which departments will receive GPS, U.S. Cellular has offered the county service for 16 vehicles for $348 per month.

U.S. Cellular Tech Marselle Culpepper said fleets managed with its GPS services see a 20 to 25 percent reduction in fuel costs, 20 to 70 percent reduction of idle time and a 5 to 10 percent reduction in total miles driven.
