CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY)- Governor Justice and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources are encouraging hunters to participate in antlerless deer firearms season.
It’ll open next Thursday the 24th-27th. They say this helps with the state’s deer population, as there will be more food available for the rest of the deer for the winter. It’s also an advantage to hunters with favorable weather conditions compared later in the season.
Additional segments of the deer firearms season are scheduled for November 25th through December 8th, December 12th-15th, and the 28th-31st.
As a reminder to hunters, the season will be closed in Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Wyoming and parts of both Fayette and Raleigh counties. Hunters are encouraged to get their licenses and deer stamps before the season starts.
