Governor Halts Fayette County Sewer Project After Minden Meeting

MINDEN– After a meeting with Minden residents, Governor Jim Justice has ordered construction on a sewer line in the area be halted immediately.

According to a press release, this is pending a final report from the EPA expected later this month or early March. The line would run from the old Arbuckle PSD sewer plant to the Oak Hill sewer plant.

Members of the Justice Administration met with Minden residents on Monday and Justice made the decision immediately following that meeting.

“Again, it is my priority to protect the health of all West Virginians and we are stopping this sewer line extension until we know more about the situation,” Gov. Justice said.

This follows another Justice announcement last week that he intends to support an expected recommendation from the EPA to have an area in Minden added to the National Priorities List for designation as a Superfund clean-up site.
