FAYETTEVILLE– The funeral arrangements for Sheriff Steve W. Kessler of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have been anncounced.
Visitation will be from noon until 4:00 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Fayette County Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building in Fayetteville. Parking will be available at the Fayette County Board of Education. Some streets in Fayetteville will be closed off for this service but the final traffic control pattern has not yet been established. This release will be updated once these street closures and traffic control patterns have been finalized.
Uniformed Deputy Sheriffs will stand an Honor Guard over Sheriff Kessler’s casket during the viewing. Uniformed Sheriff’s Deputies will also conduct full law enforcement graveside rites during the burial service.
The funeral will be at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Following the funeral service the funeral procession will proceed from Fayetteville towards Mount Hope on U.S. Route 19 South, then onto Pack’s Branch Road toward Pax. This funeral procession will be led and escorted by Fayette County Deputy Sheriffs. Burial will be at the Kessler residence between Mount Hope and Pax. Members of the public should expect extensive traffic delays during this procession and should make travel plans accordingly.
The Fayette County Courthouse will close at 1:00 pm on Tuesday to permit Courthouse employees to attend the services. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Kessler family sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the community over the past two days.
