FRIDAY STORMS: One or two thunderstorms producing gusts 40-50 mph are possible north of I-64 between 6-10 p.m.
HEAT WAVE: Father’s Day temperatures will be on the verge of 90 degrees, but then we are in for a stretch of 90-degree days with heat indices in the mid-90s Monday through Thursday. Hydrate, check on the elderly and pets and remember for those without air conditioning, your house is warmest between 9-11 p.m. in the evening. This is the best time to avoid being inside your house.
Utility companies will likely send a message to its customers to set the thermostat higher than normal due to the strain this heat wave will pose on the system. It will have far-reaching impacts east of the Mississippi River all of next week.
HEAT WAVE CRUSHING STORMS: The heat wave will likely get tackled by gusty storms in the time frame of Saturday, June 22 to Tuesday, June 25. Stay tuned.
END OF JUNE: Following a brief respite from the record heat between June 22-26, teleconnection pattern signals indicate another trough will build into the Western U.S. and force the heat ridge to once again expand into the East.
